the now-famed "mud saucers." we debated for a looong time about what these were; they're harder than normal mud but aren't completely rock. *i* think that water dripped from the ceiling onto the dry mud floor but, instead of forming stalagmites, the water was absorbed into the mud and left behind these almost-rock-hard discs. - Peg
